Brazil cuts glyphosate duty again
Time:2009/2/6 10:45:52   Hit:2775

By Robert Birkett

Brazil has further cut the duty on Chinese imports of the herbicide, glyphosate. The new fee is 2.1%, down from 2.9%. The chamber of foreign commerce, the CAMEX, dropped the duty earlier this month. The CAMEX is composed of seven Ministries. The duty “could be in force” for five years, the Ministry of Development says. The chamber cut the tariff twice last year from 35.8% to 2.9% .The 35.8% rate was applied in 2003-08. The competitive trade corporation, the GTDC, examined the issue last year, and extended the use of the tariff for another five years. It includes Brazilian imports of glyphosate in various forms (acids, salts and formulations) and concentrations.
